American Robin – Portrait

I met this handsome American Robin at Todmorden Mills, which is a small historic site in the Don Valley.

American Robins (which are actually a species of Thrush – not Robins at all!) are very officious birds. They are quite willing to tell you off if they feel that you are interfering with their activities in any way. This one whistled at me in a very impatient manner because I was standing on a patch of grass which, presumably, was full of tasty worms just waiting to be eaten.

I was permitted to take a portrait, however.
