Last Year’s Flowers

I believe this was an aster, back when it was in full bloom.

It fascinates me – the way that the brightly coloured petals of some summer flowers turn to fluff instead of just falling off the way most of them do. (This would have been purple, with a sharp yellow centre.) Metamorphosis is not just for caterpillars and rocks.
