Female Cardinal

I caught this little lady last winter, at the Brickworks in the Don Valley.

I adore Cardinals – their bright colours and cheerful voices will make a dull day brighter every time. They look particularly beautiful in winter, when everything else is grey and brown. The males are brilliant red – very flashy – but I have a great fondness for the softer colours of the female.
