Prince Edward Viaduct

This is the Prince Edward Viaduct, commonly referred to as the Bloor Viaduct after the street it was built for. It is the largest of several bridges that cross the Don Valley, and probably the handsomest.

It was snowing lightly while I was down in the valley, and I took this photo with the intention of making it black and white. However, when I got it home I decided that it would be a shame to get rid of the muted colours – the brown of the bushes, the shadows and the black iron of the bridge turned to rust and blue by the falling snow – and I left it as it was.
