This little Japanese tea set was a birthday present from my parents several years ago. It has served me well for a long time, both as a means of dispensing tea and as an aesthetic object. It is very unassuming, yet is one of the most beautiful things I own. It sits in pride of place on a shelf in my living room. Naturally, therefore, when I found myself the proud owner of a new lens, it was pressed into service as a test subject.
I am not, on the whole, a gear junkie. I can’t be – I am on a tight budget and I live in a very small apartment; there is nowhere to put stuff, and I mostly can’t afford to buy it anyway. Photography is an expensive hobby! However, I have a short list of camera-related items that I wish to acquire, and a 50mm f/1.8 lens was one of those items. Thanks to a couple of gift cards I received for Christmas, I now have one.
I am going to have a lot of fun with my camera this winter!
