Juniper

Something non-architectural that I saw on the grounds of Exhibition Place.

Juniper is a conifer that usually forms low bushes or small trees. The berries are an odd greyish blue, and are apparently actually a kind of cone. They are used to flavour gin, and in fact are what gives gin its name (from genever, the Dutch name for juniper). They are also used to make a sauce for quail, pheasant, venison, and other wild meats – the slightly resinous flavour goes well with the complex flavour of game.
